I am so impressed with this restaurant that I'm breaking my normal routine just to write the review. I hadn't planned on reviewing this restaurant as I discovered it accidentally through the Find Me Gluten Free app while traveling.
Boy, I am glad I found this place! Thank you, Find Me Gluten Free!
Not only is it Celiac Safe, but they had dessert!
Starting with my server, she knew enough about gluten to tell me, without prompting, that they had a dedicated area of the kitchen to deal with gluten free food items. Each item, of which were quite a larger number than I'm accustomed to, were denoted in the regular menu by a wheat with a cross through it. Yes, they labelled all gluten free food.
Here's where it gets especially impressive!
I ordered a dish off the menu, which was notated as gluten free. The kitchen, yes the kitchen, sent the server back as the cheese had been contaminated and they could not rectify the situation. You know, a lot of cheeses are floured these days.
So, they offered simply to leave the cheese off. I accepted this arrangement!
Look at how lovely this is:
Chicken, perfectly sautéed onions and peppers, new potatoes, and an absolutely stunning cole slaw
Oh, but it didn't stop there! They had dessert!
This is, indeed, gluten free cake which does not taste like cardboard!
Anyone else want to come with me to visit Jenkins again?
Service: 10/10
Food: 10/10
Knowledge: 10/10
Did I react? Nope! I am perfectly clear of a gluten hit!
Remember, as with all restaurants, it's best to visit during off-peak hours. Even the safest of kitchens can easily make mistakes when slammed!
